How to KEEP Your 2017 New Year’s Resolutions

The new year represents a fresh start. A symbolic clean slate that allows us the opportunity to clarify – and improve upon - our priorities.

The most common (American) resolutions involve fitness and financial stability. While these are noble and important goals, they also share one challenge. They both take time before producing noticeable results. Perhaps this is one reason so many people struggle to stay on track once the initial spark of inspiration fades.

If you want to break the trend and keep that fire lit, you need one thing:

Confidence.

Among many other benefits, self-confidence is a vital factor in maintaining a positive attitude, overcoming obstacles, and attaining success.

And let’s face it. Chasing goals that will take months or even years to achieve can take its toll on your motivation. However, if you supplement your long-term goals with an immediate “win,” you can gain a quick confidence boost that will carry you through the inevitable rough patches.

Meaning, the best way to keep your resolutions throughout the entire year (and beyond!) is to enjoy an easy triumph at the beginning. It could be as simple as:

  • Getting a gorgeous new 'do

  • Organizing your cluttered file cabinet

  • Buying a smashing new outfit

  • Making that phone call, you have been avoiding

…Or anything else that will give you a reason to hold your head a little higher right now. (At a maximum, within the week.) Then you can use that confidence to drive you towards your ultimate goals.

So if you want to keep this year's resolutions, you must ask yourself one important question.

What can I do that will make me feel better about myself, TODAY?
